All these while, whenever I want to have a new virtual machine to test stuff, I simply duplicate the harddisk and create a new virtual machine. Now, I'm learning the right way of doing things.
In simple steps,
1. Setting up the base OS,
2. Sysprep the base OS,
3a. Create a differentiating disk based on the base OS if I want to test
3b. If I want to install new products, I create a differentiating disk, and install the product, and repeat Step 1 to 3.
Some resources that helped me

Most of the updates has to do with security.
Good news is, there is little impact on sharepoint :)

PearPC for beginners.
MSDN also released a hotfix to deal with laptop issues around speed step / hibernation / suspending / random pausing to Microsoft Product Support on 1 March 2005. You need to call Microsoft Product Support and ask for KB889677. Not sure whether this is released to public yet.

New webcast entitled "Integrating Microsoft Project Server 2003 and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003" on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at 10:00 am Pacific time.
This Support WebCast presents the integration points between Microsoft Project Server 2003 and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The WebCast reviews the integration between Project Server 2003 and SharePoint technologies as they are installed the first time. The session also discusses several extensibility scenarios. These include indexing and searching across all Project Server Web sites and using the Project 2003 Web parts in a portal page.

See you there!

The link above says cannot, until sp2 is shipped. Installing .net 2.0 with sharepoint will break sharepoint! Apparently, someone in the mvp ranks successfully installed SQL 2005 with SPS??!! I guess I have to find sometime to test it myself one day.
Mike's blog also says that Sharepoint V3 is being written in ASP.Net 2.0, and it will continue to run anything being written today. Hope I can lay my hands on Sharepoint 2006 soon and hope everything will work :)
Finally, our forum engine has been upgraded to community server. And finally, I got a blog which I know how to use. Ask firedancer, I have a blog at blogspot, but I forgot how to use it!
Lots of work still have to be done, especially configuring the community server. According to triplez, the rss feeds are down, which means the website is broken. But I thought there was rss feeds for community server?? Gallery migration failed, so not sure what is the solution to that. We still need to upgrade the website engine to be powered by dotnetnuke. Meanwhile, back to the drawing board for Nova.
