one one hand the cartoon does have a point. the very first thing I do on a newly-installed Windows PC is to use IE to download the latest Firefox Wink

on the other hand it's not really funny. what Opera wants is to be able to get into pre-loading deals with computer manufacturers and sellers. Pre-loading a non-IE web browser into Windows machines sold doesn't look viable today because IE is already in there. given Opera's business model, it really makes sense for them to complain.

Yeah, and when computer manufacturers allow Opera to do that, it'll be my turn to complain. They might as well pre-load it with the free Firefox. Big Smile

I am wondering how many technically-declined users actually expect and want to a browser other than IE though....

What bothers me is all these talk about alternative browsers is mainly coming from the mouths of technical users. Approach others and they generally do not seem to care. It is just IE or Safari. Or... Lynx if you run Linux :-D

or maybe Konqueror (if KDE is used) or Firefox (if Gnome is used) on Linux Stick out tongue

or maybe Opera needs to accept the truth that the browser as a sold product is no longer viable? after all IE is free (well not really free but it's paid for when you buy Windows), Safari is free (ditto on Mac, free as in beer on Windows), Mozilla/Firefox is free...they're the only ones left that's not free (without the ads).
